Sarkin Hausawa of Enugu, Alhaji Haruna Suleiman, has promised to be fair and just in leading the Northern community in the state.

Suleiman, who gave the promise while crowning 11 members of his cabinet in Enugu on Thursday, said that the community could only enjoy peace and harmony where the leadership was fair.

He said that the cabinet members were appointed and crowned, based on their proven track records, undaunted integrity and service to the community.

While urging them not to rest on their oars, Suleiman said that they should do more in uniting the Northerners in the state and promoting peaceful co-existence with their host communities.

He assured that the community would continue to support the policies and programmes of the state government.

Chief Imam of Enugu, Zurkallah Sa’id, in his remarks, sued for peace, understanding and cooperation among members of the community to avoid conflicts and misunderstanding.

Zurkalla reminded the cabinet members that they had been entrusted with the responsibilities of assisting and ensuring that the Sarkin took right decisions through their advice and guidance.

He warned them not to see their position as an opportunity to enrich themselves or cause division, stating that they would be held accountable for their actions.

On the leadership tussle rocking the community, the chief imam, who said he had been doing everything possible to ensure amicable resolution of the matter, urged the warring parties to stop causing unnecessary tension.

Speaking on behalf of the new cabinet members, the Galadima of Sarikin, Adamu Sule, assured the Northern community that they would assist the Sarkin to succeed.
