WACT gives N30m scholarships to 50 undergraduates

As part of ways to show appreciation to the host communities, West Africa Container Terminal has awarded scholarships worth N30m to 50 undergraduate students drawn from Onne and Ogu communities in Rivers State.

A statement by the terminal operator quoted the Managing Director, WACT, Mr Naved Zafar, who spoke at the scholarship presentation ceremony in Onne, Rivers State, to have congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to work hard in their studies.

He also said that they were proud former beneficiaries of the scholarship in WACT, noting that they were well-regarded in their various fields.

“Your success today is not yours alone as it is the fruit of the sacrifices made by your parents, support of your family and guidance of your teachers. You are a great pride not only to us but to the nation. We at WACT are proud to have some former beneficiaries of our scholarship scheme in our organisation today. Through hard work and diligence, they are well regarded in their respective fields.”

Mr. Zafar said that this year, WACT had adopted a new approach in selecting the beneficiaries of its annual tertiary scholarship awards.
